How to choose a hairdresser in Zagreb
August 10, 2026 · 1 min read
A new hairdresser is always a small gamble. The photos on Instagram show the best work, not the average one, and no rating tells you whether they will suit you. Here is what is worth checking first.
Read ratings with judgement
A salon with 4.9 stars from seven reviews tells you less than one with 4.5 from three hundred. A handful of reviews is usually a circle of friends, not a sample.
What matters more than the number is what the reviews say. If three separate people mention running late, that is not a coincidence.
The neighbourhood matters more than it sounds
Somewhere you visit every six weeks has to be on your way. A salon that takes forty minutes each way gets abandoned after the third visit, however good it is.
That is why Bukni lets you browse by neighbourhood — for example hairdressers in Trešnjevka.
Ask about the price first
Haircut prices in Zagreb vary several times over, and the difference is not always quality — often it is location and equipment. Colouring depends on hair length and product used, so ask for an estimate up front.
Businesses that have claimed their Bukni profile show a price list on the profile, so you do not have to call.
Keep the first appointment small
Do not book a big change with someone you have never met. Take a cut, see how they listen and whether they keep to the agreed time. Save colouring for the next visit.
